Mindfulness in the workplace: tools for supporting well-being and productivity (Presented by Centre for Mindfulness)

Mindfulness in the workplace is a set of fascinating, practical and effective tools to support well-being and productivity. We will show: the science behind mindfulness, best practices from companies (finance, marketing, hospitals, government) and the business case. Or: how does mindfulness help you to stay healthy, keep your focus and be creative? And be prepared to experience a short bit of mindfulness on the spot.

Activity-based working (Presented by Veldhoen)

All-in-one corporate health software: a tailored solution for employee wellbeing (Presented by Mindvibe)

Promoting a healthy lifestyle within companies is an ongoing challenge. A recurring question is how technology can help solve this challenge. This question is the central topic of this workshop, hosted by Mindvibe, which is on a mission to offer companies and their health coaches all the necessary tools to promote a healthy lifestyle. Coaching, data tracking & analytics, nutrition plans and a company community are just a few of the features that boost company wellness.

Combat sitting disease: bring movement back to work (Presented by Life Fitness)

In this workshop, we will discuss sitting disease, explain how you can engage your employees to become more physically active, and improve their health and productivity. We will explain the ‘gear model’ that shows how you can introduce interventions for different groups of employees and talk about different kinds of movement enabling options that can be blended into a sedentary office environment alongside some new office Gym concepts.

E-health stress-prevention: measuring, monitoring & coaching by smartphone & servicing (Presented by Fitvitaal)

The science of stress and its impact on human performance has enormously evolved in the last decade. By combining the knowledge of the fields of neurophysiology, psychology and exercise physiology we were able to validate a stress-score for white collar workers. The effect of stress on different physiological systems is explained and the possibilities to measure relevant changes. The StressCoach App incorporates this knowledge and provides a validated and personalized value for stress.

Corporate health care: how to establish an effective provider network (Presented by CZ)

There are numerous providers in the work-related healthcare market, but in practice, many organisations fail to put serious thought into choosing a provider. The choice is often made only when an employee actually falls ill. However, it’s worth taking a more conscious approach to choosing a provider- often at an earlier stage- and activating a different kind of healthcare. CZ will outline both at employer and employee level when certain choices are available, and explain which kind of healthcare is most effective at each stage. This will ensure you have the right healthcare provider at the right moment, ultimately getting the best care for your employees. And with a number of objective criteria, you can get started yourself!)

Healthy Office: the secret weapon for a strong employer brand (Presented by CBRE)

Companies are in a constant battle to recruit and keep talented individuals. How do you outsmart your competition and leave them biting the dust in this war for talent? Of course, HR programs, management methods and the workload are key ingredients in this battle. Believing the working environment should also be at the heart of this heated struggle, CBRE joined forces with the University of Twente for a unique study on employee health. This multidisciplinary research focused on the effects of the working environment on employee potential. The outcome exceeded all expectations. Participants in the study said they were not only happier, more energetic and healthier, but they were also more productive. But what do we mean by a Healthy Office? And how can this be the secret weapon for a strong employer brand?

Delegate-choice from four 40-minute symposium/workshop sessions

A1: How to create an effective wellbeing strategy

Starting with your ‘wellbeing why’ is fundamental to creating an effective wellbeing programme. For some, defining a strategy is an afterthought and for others, an overwhelming task. Regardless of what stage you are at, your wellbeing strategy can always improve. This workshop will enable you to learn: - what an effective wellbeing strategy looks like; - how to ensure your strategy meets the needs of your people; - why leadership support is paramount; and - what can be done to maintain & improve it over time.

Alvin Ashford-Quaye MBA - Representative: Investors In People

Symposium/Workshop delivered by Yoke, in partnership with Investors In People

A2: The role of the line manager in supporting employee wellbeing

Research tells us the biggest impact on the wellbeing of employees is their line manager. But as organisations put wellbeing programmes and strategies in place, insufficient attention has been paid to the key role of line managers in facilitating their success. This session will examine how line manager behaviours can affect the wellbeing of their teams, for good and for bad. It also considers their role in relation to existing organisational wellbeing programmes and it looks at how managers can protect their own wellbeing as they seek to build and maintain the wellbeing of their teams..

Paul Barrett - Head of Wellbeing: Bank Workers’ Charity

Symposium/Workshop delivered by Bank Workers’ Charity

A3: Innovation in Stress Management

Each year, one in four people will face mental health challenges, much of which is caused by occupational stress. Technology has a key role in helping company’s deliver stress management and employee mental wellbeing programmes at-scale and with measurable results. Learn how companies are using devices and Apps to provide their employees with scientifically validated tools to help them improve their mental resilience and ability to manage stress. Best practice for mental wellbeing programmes and some of the potential challenges technology can pose.

Marie Clarke - Head of Marketing: Galvanic

Symposium/Workshop delivered by Galvanic / pip

A4: The Responsible Employer: Comprehensive lifestyle & wellbeing services

The aim of the workshop is to inform employers, HR Directors and Managers in particular the opportunities which currently exist in the world of healthcare. Employers have a huge responsibility both morally and legally to ensure that their staff are encouraged to look after their overall health and wellbeing, this predominately requires lifestyle changes. This is a sensitive requirement for any employer to fulfil but if done properly, the rewards are endless. Having motivated well, highly appreciated staff can only benefit all parties. The secret is to deliver this commodity affordably and with compassion. This workshop will hopefully assist in this process and at least will give examples of how and where these services can be obtained from.
